Hibiscus Frit Blend is a mixed-color frit assortment made from 104 COE glass and packaged in a 2 oz jar. It is a Hawaiian-inspired blend that combines multiple compatible colors to give you a coordinated palette in one container. This blend is used in lampworking when you want quick, repeatable surface color and visual texture without having to pull stringers or mix your own frit colors. The mix is designed to produce bright, tropical tones, including ruby reds, shell pinks, oranges, and palm tree greens.
How it is used:
Warm the frit by keeping the jar closed near your kiln or in a warm area so moisture is minimized before use. Roll a warm gather or a slightly tacky hot spot of glass through the frit to pick up an even coating. Use a frit paddle, marver, or graphite to gently press the frit into the surface so it seats cleanly before you add more heat. Melt the frit in gradually in a cooler flame to reduce boiling and keep the color placement more controlled. Apply in layers by spot-heating and re-rolling for heavier coverage, then fully melt in for a smoother finish. Use as an accent over a base bead, pendant, or small sculpture to create color breaks, mottling, and banding effects.
