Description:
This large inside-out claw grabber is a metal claw tool with inward-bent tips that angle outward, designed to grip glass securely from the inside of an opening. It includes a plate and a set screw that lets you lock the claw tight around your glasswork for a stable hold. In lampworking and hot shop style forming, this tool is used when you need internal control to open a form outward, support and manipulate larger hollow sections, or hold work confidently while shaping rims, lips, and openings. Many glassworkers use this style of inside-out claw for goblet tops and bottoms and other hollow-form handling where outside grabbing would mark or distort the surface.
How it is used:
Insert the claw tips into the opening of the hot or warm piece you need to control.
Expand and position the tips so they seat evenly against the inside wall.
Tighten the set screw to lock the claw in place for a firm, non-slipping grip.
Use the handle to support, rotate, and gently open the form outward as needed while you shape, flare, or true the opening.
Release the set screw and remove the tool once the glass has stiffened enough to hold its shape.
