Description:

This 104 COE soft glass frit is made from Moretti Effetre glass that has been crushed and screened to a medium particle size for consistent application. The frit is packaged as a 2 oz quantity and is designed to be used as a surface colorant in lampworking, where small glass particles are applied to hot glass to create solid color coverage, speckling, or layered decorative effects. Light steel grey is a transparent grey with a softer, lighter tone that allows light to pass through while still giving subtle shading and depth. Medium frit is commonly chosen because it gives visible texture and coverage while still melting in cleanly when properly heated, making it an excellent choice for beadmakers and soft glass lampworkers who want controlled color placement, clean encasement, and the ability to build transparent layers for dimensional designs.

How it is used:

• Roll a hot bead or gather through frit to apply an even layer of color before melting it smooth in the flame
• Spot-apply frit with a marver, paddle, or tweezers to place color exactly where you want it on a bead or small sculptural form
• Use as a base layer under clear for clean encased designs and reduced smearing compared to some stringer-applied surface work
• Layer over other compatible colors to create depth and gentle shadow effects, taking advantage of the transparent nature of the glass
• Combine with other compatible 104 COE frit colors for mottling, gradients, and complex layered pattern effects
• Heat gently at first to tack the frit in place, then bring it up to full melt to avoid blowing frit off the surface
