Starting as a dark brownish rod this one melts into a crazy array of colors. It doesn't seem to be very picky as far as flame chemistry goes but it particular about heat. The striking color can be burned away to give a nice dark brown color to compliment the blues and purples. - MW

Description
Lunar Glass Silver Brownish Purple is a silver-rich, earthy purple that shifts between smoked plum, and cocoa-brown as it develops. In a neutral flame it can stay smoother and more transparent, while gentle reduction and heat-cycling bring out darker wine tones, warm brown undertones, and streaky, storm-like movement that gives the color a lot of depth.
What to expect
  • Color range: warm brown-violet → plum → deep wine/eggplant with smoky shadows
  • Visual texture: natural banding and wispy striations, especially in thicker gathers
  • Overall vibe: “spacey-earthy” — rich, dramatic, and organic rather than bright
Working character
  • Neutral flame for cleaner, more translucent purples.
  • Light reduction to coax out the browns and deepen the purple (heavy reduction can push it darker and more opaque).
  • Heat-cycle to build complexity: warm to a glow, cool, then reheat gently to develop layered tones.
Great for
  • Sculptural work where the shading enhances form
  • Stringer/linework for gradients and shadowy outlines
  • Encasement to amplify the smoky depth and create a “nebula” look
