Schott glass gobs or 'hockey pucks' are heated in an oven and picked up with a steel punty. The gob is 'skinned' and the resulting gather of crystal clear glass is used to encapsulate a setup in a heated vacuum cup. A foot activated vacuum system is used. Mechanical rollers and torches are used to keep on half of the paperweight hot and centered on the punty. Another gob is picked up, 'skinned' and used to add the bottom of the weight.
