Moretti Light Topaz is a transparent Effetre soft glass color pulled into solid rod for lampworking. This rod is used when you want a warm amber topaz tone that stays transparent, making it a strong choice for layered color work, encasement-friendly designs, and adding depth and shading without turning opaque. The larger rod diameter is especially useful when you want to build bigger gathers efficiently for larger beads, small blown forms, or thicker wraps without constantly reheating a thin rod.
How it is used:
- Preheat the rod tip gradually, then form a gather and apply it as a wrap to a mandrel-based bead or to a hot glass base.
- Use it as a transparent overlay over compatible soft-glass colors to create depth, warm shading, and a “tea-stain” effect in layered designs.
- Pull it into stringer for fine line work, scrollwork, and detail, then apply over a stable base color and melt in to the desired relief.
- Use small gathers for dots and accents, then melt in fully for smooth dots or leave slightly raised for texture.
