Moretti Lapis Light Pastel is a soft glass color rod from Effetre that is pulled into solid rounds for lampworking. This is a lighter lapis blue that gives you an opaque, pastel blue tone useful for clean base beads, sky and water palettes, and layered designs where you want blue without the depth of a full cobalt. Rod is the standard form for torchwork because it heats evenly, can be applied with precision, and can be pulled into stringer for controlled detail work and fine line decoration.
How it is used:
- Pre-warm the rod in the outer flame to reduce thermal shock, then bring it to a working heat for winding onto a mandrel or applying to a base gather.
- Use it as a base color for opaque beads and spacers when you want a softer blue that still reads clearly in finished work.
- Pull stringer for fine lines, dot patterns, and simple decorative elements such as borders, scrolls, and small floral or geometric accents.
