Description:
This is a solid colored soft-glass rod made by Effetre, commonly referred to in the lampworking world as Moretti. It is manufactured as straight cane in a workable diameter range and is intended to be melted in a torch flame for beadmaking and other small lampworked components. Copper Green/Red Pastel is used when you want a muted, complex color that can add an aged, earthy look to beads and small sculptural details, and it is especially useful for organic palettes, nature-inspired work, and designs where you want a softer tone rather than a bright, high-saturation color.
How it is used:
- Preheat the rod tip gently in the far flame to reduce thermal shock, then move into the working flame to build a gather.
- Wind onto a prepared mandrel to form a bead base, then shape with controlled heat and light marvering.
- Apply as dots, stripes, or wraps over a compatible soft-glass base to introduce muted accent color and visual depth.
- Pull stringers from a small gather for fine trailing, scrollwork, and detail lines over contrasting colors.
- Anneal finished work on an appropriate schedule for soft glass to reduce internal stress and improve durability.
