Description:

Moretti Gold Aventurine Filigrana is a soft glass color rod made with a filigrana construction that combines a warm brown base with aventurine sparkle to create a rich, metallic-looking effect through the length of the rod. Aventurine glass contains copper crystals that produce the signature glittering appearance when the glass is worked and cooled, giving finished beads and decorative elements a gold shimmer without needing surface coatings. This filigrana style is used when you want built-in visual texture and sparkle for twist work, wraps, and pulled stringer accents, especially in designs where you want the shine to show through clear encasement or stand out against opaque base colors.

How it is used:

• Heat the rod end in a neutral flame and wind onto a mandrel to create beads with built-in sparkle and movement.
• Twist the rod as it warms to tighten the filigrana pattern and distribute the aventurine shimmer through the design.
• Wrap over a base bead as a decorative layer, then gently marver to smooth while keeping the sparkle readable.
• Pull into stringer for fine glittering linework, then trail it for borders, scrolls, and accent details.
• Lightly encase with clear soft glass to add depth and enhance the gold sparkle effect.
