Description:
This is a soft glass color rod made by Effetre Moretti in the color Legno, also known as Light Wood. It is a pastel, opaque tone that is commonly used in beadmaking and soft glass lampworking when you want an earthy, neutral base color that reads warm and natural in finished work. The rod form is pulled to a working diameter that feeds cleanly into a surface-mix torch flame for winding on mandrels, building small solid forms, and pulling stringer for linework and detail.
How it is used:
- Warm the tip of the rod gradually and build a gather.
- Wind the molten glass onto a prepared mandrel to form the bead base, or apply it onto hot glass as a casing or surface layer.
- Use it as a base for reactive surface decoration such as stringer lines, dots, and simple sculptural additions.
- Pull stringer from a small gather when you want fine lines for striping, borders, and detail work.
- Anneal finished pieces in a kiln using a schedule appropriate for soft glass.
