Moretti Marine Wave Cool Rod is a soft glass color rod used for lampworking and beadmaking. It is manufactured as a straight, pull-formed rod designed to be melted in a torch flame and applied as a bead body color, surface decoration, or pulled down into stringer for detail work. Marine Wave is part of the Effetre Moretti Cool Colors palette and is commonly used when you want a blue-green tone with a water-like look that works well for ocean palettes, encased designs, and layered color effects. Some lampworkers also use Marine Wave specifically for bubble effects in encasement work when they want a more atmospheric, space or underwater look.
How it is used:
- Pre-warm the rod in the back of the flame, then heat to a working temperature to form a smooth gather.
- Wind onto a mandrel as a base bead color, especially for ocean, coastal, and blue-green palettes.
- Apply as wraps, dots, or stripes over other colors to introduce movement and depth.
- Pull stringer for fine linework, scrolls, and controlled detailing.
- Use as an encasing layer over reactive or specialty colors when you want a tinted clear look and added visual depth.
