This is a machine-pulled Effetre Moretti soft glass color rod in the Orange Rock Cool color family, supplied as straight rod for lampworking. Rod is manufactured to a consistent working diameter so you can heat it evenly, gather cleanly, and control how much glass you introduce into the flame at a time.
Orange Rock Cool is a warm orange tone that’s commonly used for bold bead bases, sculptural accents, and layered color work where you want a strong orange that reads clearly over both light and dark backgrounds. Like most saturated oranges, it rewards a controlled working rhythm: steady heat for smooth application, and thoughtful layering when you want depth or shading.
How it is used:
- Preheat the tip in the far flame to avoid shocking, then bring it up to working temperature.
- Apply as a base color by winding onto mandrel-mounted bead release, then smooth and shape.
- Use for encasing-compatible surface decoration such as dots, stripes, and scrollwork, then melt in to the desired relief.
- Pull stringer from a small gather for fine linework and detail.
