This is a medium-diameter rod of Moretti Effetre soft glass in a rich red “special” formulation, made for consistent melting and clean color application at the torch. Supplied as straight glass rod, it’s a staple color for lampworkers who want strong, saturated red for beads, small sculpture, and decorative accents where controlled heatwork and reliable color payoff matter.

How it is used:

Warm the rod gradually in the far flame to reduce thermal shock, then bring it into a neutral flame for working heat.
