Description:
This is a solid colored soft-glass rod made by Effetre, commonly referred to in the lampworking world as Moretti. It is produced as straight cane in a consistent working diameter and is designed to be melted in a torch flame for beadmaking and small-scale lampworked components. Turquoise Green Copper is used when you want a saturated blue green tone that stands out in surface decoration, pairs well with both opaque and transparent soft-glass palettes, and can be worked into clean dots, stripes, and layered designs where strong color presence matters.
How it is used:
- Preheat the rod tip in the far flame to reduce thermal shock, then move into the working flame to form a controlled gather.
- Wind onto a prepared mandrel to create a bead base, then shape with gravity and light marvering.
- Apply as dots and melt in for smooth spot color, or rake and swirl for simple surface patterning.
- Pull stringers from a small gather for fine linework, scrolls, and detail over contrasting base colors.
- Use as an overlay or partial wrap to build layered color effects, then anneal on an appropriate schedule for soft glass.
