This is a solid Effetre and Moretti soft glass color rod in Turquoise Light Alabaster, made in an opaque alabaster formulation and pulled into a rod size that is ideal for beadmaking and small flameworked components. Alabaster colors are chosen when you want a softer, more diffused look than a standard opaque, which makes them especially useful for organic forms, sculptural details, and layered designs where you want color to read gently without harsh edges. In lampworking, rod stock like this is used for consistent application of color in wraps, dots, small gathers, and for pulling stringer to create controlled line work and fine surface detail.
How it is used:
- Preheat the rod end gradually in the outer flame to reduce thermal shock, then bring it to a workable glow.
- Apply the molten glass as wraps on a mandrel for beads, or place small gathers for dots, petals, and sculptural elements.
- Pull stringer from a small gather to create fine lines, scrolls, and controlled surface decoration.
- Use with compatible Effetre colors and clear for layering and casing when you want a softened alabaster look in the finished work.
