Moretti Very Cherry Effetre Glass Rods are soft glass color rods manufactured as solid, round cane in a 5-6mm diameter range. This style of rod is designed to be introduced directly into a torch flame, allowing the glassworker to form a gather, apply color to a base bead, or pull stringer for detail. Very Cherry is used when you want a strong red family color that can read as a cherry-toned accent, making it a practical choice for florals, hearts, sculptural details, and bold surface decoration in soft glass lampworking.
How it is used:
- Warm the rod gradually at the edge of the flame to reduce thermal shock, then bring it up to a working heat.
- Wind molten glass onto a prepared mandrel to build beads, using Very Cherry as a base color or as a surface layer over another color.
- Pull the heated glass into stringer for fine lines, scrollwork, and small detail applications.
- Use small gathers for dot work and raised decoration, then shape with graphite or brass tools while the glass is still workable.
