Moretti Orange Special frit is an opaque soft glass frit made by crushing and sizing compatible Effetre glass into a medium-grade particle. This color is formulated to deliver solid opaque coverage without the smeared appearance that can occur with some opaque frits, making it an excellent choice when you want clean, crisp orange decoration that can still be encased. It is used in lampworking when you need reliable opaque orange coverage for beads, small sculptural work, and layered designs where you want the surface to remain even as you melt the frit in.
How it is used:
- Roll a warm bead through frit in a frit tray, then melt in slowly to keep the coverage even and avoid pushing the frit into streaks.
- Use as a base layer for solid opaque orange, then add stringer or additional frit for patterning before final shaping.
- Apply in bands or spot placements for dots and blocks of color, then melt flush for a smooth surface.
