Origin Aqua Glow Frit (L) is a coarse grade glass frit in an aqua glow color. Frit is made by crushing compatible glass into graded particle sizes, then sieving it so you get a consistent grain size for repeatable surface application. The large frit grade is typically chosen when you want bold, textured color placement, heavier coverage, or a more pronounced “sparkle” and breakup than you get from fine frit. In lampworking, it is commonly used for building color quickly on beads, small sculptural work, and blown components where you want the color to read strongly without pulling full rod or tubing color into the build.
How it is used:
- Warm the base piece in a neutral flame until the surface is just tacky enough to accept frit.
- Roll or dip the hot glass into the frit, applying only as much as needed for the effect you want.
- Gently reheat to fuse the frit in without boiling the surface.
- Optionally encase with clear to smooth the texture and add depth to the color.
- Use spot application for gradients, bands, or accent areas, or heavier application for full coverage.
