Origin Electric Blue Frit in the Large size is a bold, saturated blue glass frit intended for adding quick, consistent color and surface movement to borosilicate lampworking work. Frit is made by crushing compatible color glass into graded particle sizes, and the Large grade is used when you want more pronounced texture, heavier color placement, and a more organic, broken-up pattern than fine powders or smaller frit sizes. This is a solid choice for encasing, layering over clear, rolling in multiple colors for reactive-looking depth, or building up color on sculptural details where you want the individual granules to read in the finished piece.
How it is used:
- Warm the area of the piece you want to decorate until it is slightly tacky
- Roll or dab the hot glass into a frit tray, then gently reheat to tack the particles down
- Melt in lightly to preserve texture, or melt in fully for a smoother surface and deeper saturation
- Add additional layers of frit for depth, then encase in clear if desired to magnify the color and protect the surface
- Use Large frit when you want visible granule patterning, heavier color deposits, or a more textured look before final melt-in
