Origin Ivy Green Frit (S) is a small-grade glass frit in an ivy green color, made by crushing compatible colored glass and screening it into a consistent small particle size. Small frit is ideal when you want controlled, even pickup and a smoother melt-in than medium or large frit, while still keeping enough particle definition to create gentle speckling and natural-looking variation. In lampworking, it is commonly used for quick surface color, soft mottling, and layered depth on beads, pendants, marbles, and small sculptural work, especially when you want a green that reads deeper and more earthy than brighter spring greens.
How it is used:
- Warm the surface of your bead, blank, or gather until it is tacky
- Roll the hot glass through frit to pick up a thin, even coat
- Use tweezers or a frit spoon to place frit precisely for patterning and shading
- Heat gradually to tack the frit in place, then melt in to your preferred level of smoothness
- Apply a clear encasement layer when you want added depth and a cleaner finished surface
