Origin Midnight Frit (L) is a lampworking color frit made from crushed and screened glass. The frit is sorted into a large particle size so it can be used for bold, high-contrast surface texture and strong color placement. Large frit is typically chosen when you want visible “chunk” definition, heavier coverage with fewer passes, or when you plan to melt the frit in and then shape, rake, or encase the surface for depth.

How it is used:

• Warm the piece in a neutral flame and bring the area you want to decorate to a tacky, slightly glossy heat.
• Roll or press the hot glass into the frit to pick up an even layer, then gently reheat to set the particles without boiling the surface.
• Melt the frit in fully for a smooth skin, or leave it slightly raised for texture depending on the look you want.
• For cleaner results, work in thin applications and build in layers, then encase in clear if you want depth and a smoother finish.
