Origin Mustard Bars are colored glass bars made for flameworking and other torch-based glasswork where you want to introduce color in small, controllable amounts. Bar stock is especially useful at the torch because it gives you a larger cross-section of color than thin stringer, making it easy to pull your own stringers, make color overlays, or gather small amounts of color for accents without burning through a full rod quickly. This mustard tone is a solid, earthy yellow that works well for warm palettes, reactive-looking striping, and bold graphic linework in sculptural and functional work.
How it is used:
- Warm the end of the bar gradually in a neutral flame to avoid shocking the glass.
- Pull stringers from the bar for fine linework, scrollwork, and surface drawing.
- Use the bar to apply small gathers of color for dots, bands, and quick overlays.
- Marver and shape the applied color, then continue building your form as usual.
- Garage and anneal using a schedule appropriate for the glass type you’re working in.
