Origin Ozone Frit (L) is a lampworking color frit made by crushing compatible color glass into larger, irregular granules. Large frit is chosen when you want a bolder, more broken up pattern and more visible speckling than fine frit, especially on beads, pendants, small sculptural components, and blown torch work. Because the particles are larger, it is also useful for building layered color effects, creating mottled transitions, and producing deliberate texture before you melt it fully smooth.
How it is used:
- Warm the glass you are working on until the surface is slightly tacky, then roll or press the hot area into the frit to pick up the amount you want.
- Reheat gently to tack the frit in place, then melt it in partially for a textured look or fully for a smoother surface.
- Apply in thin layers for cleaner results, then add additional layers to build depth and variation.
- Use as a base layer before adding stringer linework, dots, or encasing to create depth and complex color movement.
