Origin Stix-Tawny Bars are colored glass bar stock intended for flameworking and related torchwork. Bar stock is pulled and formed into a consistent, easy-to-handle shape that can be warmed and introduced into the flame for gathering, spot color application, and small sculptural builds. Tawny is typically used when you want warm brown and amber-adjacent tones for natural details such as wood, fur, antlers, leather, and earthy shading.
How it is used:
- Preheat the bar in the back of the flame to reduce thermal shock, then bring it forward to a working heat.
- Gather a small amount of molten color on the end of the bar and apply it to your work for dots, stripes, wraps, and localized color placement.
- Use the bar as a small gather for sculptural elements such as ears, noses, horns, or textured accents where a warm brown tone is needed.
- Marver and shape the applied glass as needed, then continue building or encase depending on your design.
