Origin Sunshine Frit in the Large size is a bright yellow color glass frit used in borosilicate lampworking when you want fast, even color application with visible granule patterning. Frit is produced by crushing compatible color glass and sorting it into specific particle sizes, and the Large grade is chosen when you want heavier deposits, more texture, and a more broken, organic look than you get from fine or small frit. This size is especially useful for surface decoration, building layered color effects, and creating depth under clear encasement while still letting the individual particles show before they fully melt in.
How it is used:
- Heat the area you want to decorate until it is slightly tacky
- Roll or press the hot glass into a frit tray to pick up the particles
- Reheat gently to tack the frit in place, then melt in to the level of texture you want
- Layer over other colors for variegated effects, then melt in and shape as normal
- Encase in clear if desired to intensify the color and protect the surface from abrasion
