Paragon FiberFuse 16 Glass Kiln

SKU:

FIBERFUSE-16

Description:

The Paragon FiberFuse 16 is a compact, top loading square glass fusing kiln built for fast heat response and efficient firing on standard household power. It is constructed with 2 inch ceramic fiber insulation on all sides instead of traditional firebrick, which reduces thermal mass so the kiln heats up and cools down faster for quick glass firings, frequent testing, and portable instruction. The FiberFuse 16 fires up to 1700°F / 926°C and runs on a standard 120V outlet using 1800 watts, making it well suited for home studios, classrooms, and shared spaces where power and space are limited. It uses surface-mounted sinusoidal sidewall elements for responsive heating and balanced heat distribution without requiring lid elements, and it includes a fast-response exposed-tip thermocouple for accurate temperature control during sensitive segments for fusing, slumping, and annealing. The kiln includes a Sentinel TouchXpress touchscreen controller, a lid safety switch that disconnects power to the elements when the lid is opened, and a built-in steel base with rubber feet so a separate stand is not required.

How it is used:

  • Fuse glass tiles, layered sheet glass, and jewelry-scale work by programming a firing schedule on the Sentinel TouchXpress controller and running short-cycle firings for quick turnaround.
  • Slump and shape glass over molds by using controlled ramps and holds, relying on the fast-response thermocouple for accurate temperature control during soak segments.
  • Test new glass combinations and techniques without tying up a larger kiln by running frequent batch tests with faster ramp-up and cooling made possible by ceramic fiber insulation.
  • Teach fusing and glass painting classes where multiple firings are needed per session, using standard 120V power in classroom or portable instruction settings.
  • Use the lid safety switch as a built-in safety layer by keeping the lid closed during firing and allowing the kiln to complete the cycle before unloading.
