Description:
This festive frit blend combines transparent and opaque greens, yellow ochre, oranges, and black glass frit to create a rich, harvest-themed palette perfect for beadmaking and flameworking applications. Frit blends are pre-mixed combinations of complementary colors and opacities, allowing artists to work with coordinated color schemes without having to source and combine individual frit colors. The Pumpkin Patch blend is particularly suited for creating dimensional beads with natural color variation, building autumn-themed decorative elements, and adding seasonal accents to larger sculptural work. Each jar contains 2 ounces of frit, making it convenient for projects that call for a small to moderate amount of material. Frit is applied to hot glass at the torch by gathering it onto a mandrel or picking it up with a molten gather, then working it into the piece as desired.
How it is used:
- Heat your mandrel or gather your base glass to working temperature at the torch.
- Dip or pick up frit from the frit tray and apply it to the hot glass surface.
- Use a marver or graphite paddle to shape and blend the frit into the glass, or leave it textured for visual interest.
- Continue building your bead or component by adding more frit, clear glass, or other decorative elements as your design requires.
- Allow the finished piece to cool slowly in a kiln to prevent thermal shock and cracking.
