This pure USA beeswax comes as a 1 ounce cosmetic-grade bar sourced from a family owned and operated bee farm. In lampworking and hot shop settings, beeswax is commonly used as a bench aid for waxing graphite and metal tools to help hot glass release more cleanly, reduce sticking, and improve the smoothness of tool marks during shaping. A light wax film can also help certain tools glide over the glass surface when you are doing quick finishing passes, especially on smaller work where you want clean edges and minimal drag. Because it is supplied as a solid bar, it is easy to keep at the bench and apply exactly where needed without mess.
How it is used:
- Warm the surface of the tool slightly from ambient heat at the bench or brief proximity to the flame, keeping it well below any smoking point.
- Rub a small amount of beeswax onto the area of the tool that will contact the glass.
- Use the tool as normal, reapplying a light coat as needed to maintain smooth release and glide.
- Store the bar in a clean container or bag at the bench to keep grit and dust from contaminating the wax.
