This is rainbow flower millefiori intended for decorative inclusion work in glass. Millefiori is made by fusing and pulling patterned glass canes, then slicing the cane into small cross sections that reveal the flower design. It is used in lampworking when you want consistent, repeatable floral imagery in beads, pendants, marbles, and other sculptural work without having to build the pattern by hand each time. This item is sold as a 5 gram unit.
How it is used:
- Warm the millefiori gradually at the edge of the flame to reduce thermal shock before introducing it to hotter heat.
- Tack the millefiori slice onto a warm glass surface, then gently heat until it begins to fuse.
- Cap or encase the millefiori with clear glass when you want a smoother surface and added depth.
- Use light heat and controlled rotation to avoid distorting the flower pattern while it seals in.
- Garage or anneal the finished piece on an appropriate schedule for the glass you are working.
