Description:
Simax clear tubing is borosilicate glass stock formed into a hollow cylindrical shape for scientific and artistic lampworking. With a 3mm wall thickness and a 125mm length, this tubing is well-suited for small, precise hollow builds where you want good control over heat, wall movement, and seals. It is commonly used when making small connections, sleeves, and compact hollow components, and it is also a practical size for cutting down into shorter sections for repetitive production work.
How it is used:
- Preheat the tubing gradually in the outer flame to reduce thermal shock, then bring it up to working temperature evenly.
- Use the hollow interior to build small vessels, connectors, and compact sections of scientific apparatus.
- Seal one end and apply gentle air pressure to expand a section when forming small bulbs or transitions.
- Join to other tubing or solid stock by squaring and heating the end, then welding and smoothing the seal line.
- Cut into shorter working lengths for repeatable parts by scoring and separating with controlled heat and a thermal shock line.
