Description:
This is Simax clear rectangular rod with a flat-sided profile measuring 5mm by 6.7mm. Rectangular rod is manufactured as solid stock, so it heats and moves differently than round rod, giving you crisp edges, clean flats, and predictable geometry when you want straight lines or defined facets in your work. In lampworking, it is commonly used for sculptural builds, handle and foot fabrication, architectural details, and anywhere you want a broader contact surface for sealing, stacking, or building up mass with less rolling than round rod.
How it is used:
- Preheat gradually and rotate as needed, focusing heat evenly across the flats to avoid twisting.
- Use the flat faces to create clean seals, bridges, and structural joins with increased surface contact.
- Pull points, paddles, or flattened elements while maintaining defined edges for geometric detail.
- Incorporate into sculptural work where you want crisp lines, corners, and controlled shaping.
