Simax 8mm x 10.8mm Rectangular Rod is clear borosilicate rod manufactured in a rectangular profile for lampworking and scientific glass fabrication when you need flat faces, crisp corners, and repeatable geometry. Compared to round rod, rectangular stock gives you immediate reference surfaces that help prevent rolling on the bench and make it easier to align parts during assembly. It is especially useful for building flat-sided details, structural ribs, and reinforced attachment points where you want more contact area at a tack and a cleaner, more controlled layout. This size provides a solid amount of glass mass for medium-to-heavier structural work while still heating predictably and allowing you to press, paddle, and shape without losing the rectangular character too quickly.

How it is used:

• Use to create flat-sided supports, ribs, and reinforcement members on larger work
• Heat and press to form paddles, tabs, and mounting pads with consistent thickness
• Tack and bridge between components where flat faces improve alignment and stability
• Pull down, taper, or segment for custom transitions while keeping a flatter profile than round rod
