Description:
The Small Ribbed Round is a beadmaking press shape designed to form a compact round bead with evenly spaced ribs around the outside. This style is used when you want a true round profile but with added texture that catches light, adds visual rhythm in a strand, and gives a little extra grip in finished jewelry. The listed cavity sizes let you choose the finished bead diameter so you can repeat the same shape consistently across sets and production runs.
How it is used:
- Apply bead release to your mandrel and let it dry fully.
- Wind a gather of molten glass onto the mandrel until you have enough volume to fill the chosen cavity size.
- Let the glass cool slightly until it is firm enough to press without smearing.
- Place the bead into the press cavity and close the press smoothly to form the ribbed round shape.
- Reheat in the flame to smooth chill marks and refine the surface while keeping the rib detail.
- Anneal the finished bead using an appropriate kiln schedule for your glass type.
