This is Simax tubing that has been internally coated with amber enamel to create a warm, colored interior surface while maintaining a clear and workable exterior. The larger diameter and thin wall thickness make this tubing ideal for creating substantial blown forms, large decorative sleeves, and architectural components where you need both scale and color without excessive weight. In lampworking, amber-coated tubing is chosen for pieces where warm tones are desired as an integral part of the design, and the thin walls allow for responsive heating and efficient working.
How it is used:
- Heat the tubing slowly and evenly, rotating continuously to ensure the enamel coating does not experience thermal shock.
- Use for large blowouts, decorative sleeves, and substantial tube assemblies where the amber interior color adds visual interest.
- The thin wall thickness allows for precise control during heating and forming, making it suitable for both functional and artistic applications.
- Seal to compatible tubing using careful alignment and even heat, then anneal appropriately for the wall thickness.
