Description:

Boro Batch Wild Honey Blues is a borosilicate color tubing product made to be worked in a lampworking flame and incorporated into borosilicate builds. Color tubing is manufactured as a hollow form so it can be used when you need a consistent inner diameter for blowouts, sleeves, and hollow assemblies, or when you want to build volume quickly without starting from solid rod.

In lampworking, color tubing is chosen for pieces where you want the color to be the body of the work rather than a surface application. It is commonly used for small blown forms, sections that will be stretched and shaped, and components that benefit from even wall thickness. Wild Honey Blues is typically selected when you want a color-forward look in hollow work, especially for sections that will be shaped, blown, or sleeved into a larger assembly.

How it is used:

Start by inspecting the tubing and warming it gradually in a neutral flame to prevent thermal shock. Once heat is evenly soaked in, you can rotate and heat a working zone, then close and open ends as needed to create a bubble, pull points, or prepare for a seal. For sleeving work, bring both the color tube and the receiving tube or rod section up to an even heat, then make the seal while maintaining alignment and steady rotation.

For blowouts, heat a section evenly, introduce gentle air pressure through a blowhose or by mouth if your setup allows, then shape with gravity and tools while keeping the walls evenly heated. If you plan to attach clear to the color, keep the heat balanced across both materials so the seal line stays stable and the wall thickness remains consistent.
