The Taglia Small Brass Sophietta is a precision-made shaping and blowing tool for lampworkers who build hollow forms. It features a hollow air passage through the handle so you can blow directly into a vessel while you work, without needing an attached blowtube. This makes it especially useful when you need quick, controlled internal pressure while adjusting shape, refining openings, or correcting symmetry on hot hollow work.
Taglia builds this tool with modern machining and traditional ergonomics, combining a walnut handle with a brass pommel for balance and tactile feedback. The working end is designed around Taglia’s interchangeable system so the tool can be serviced and components can be replaced as needed. Many lampworkers pair a sophietta with a graphite coating such as Aquadag to reduce sticking and improve surface glide when working hot glass.
