Zodiac #1 Blasting Stencils are single-use vinyl stencil sheets made for sandblasting decoration and etching on glass. Each stencil is cut from thin, flexible vinyl so it can conform to flat work as well as gentle curves on items like marbles, ornaments, and small vessels. The stencil uses a water-based adhesive that holds securely during blasting, then releases cleanly when soaked in water, making removal simple and reducing the chance of leaving adhesive residue on the glass. This design set features sharp-edged zodiac imagery sized for crisp, readable detail after blasting. Each sheet includes an instructional sheet, and the product is intended to be applied using transfer tape so the cut vinyl elements stay aligned while being placed onto the glass. A three-sheet minimum purchase applies, allowing you to mix designs to meet the minimum.
How it is used:
- Clean and dry the glass surface so the adhesive bonds evenly
- Use transfer tape to lift the stencil from its backing and keep the design aligned
- Position the stencil on the glass and burnish it down firmly to seal the edges
- Mask any surrounding areas you want protected from overspray or abrasive media
- Sandblast the exposed glass to create a frosted, etched finish where the vinyl is not covering
- After blasting, soak the stencil with water until the adhesive releases
- Peel away the vinyl and rinse the glass to reveal the finished etched design
